All those who subscribe to my Instagram’s account have seen reels with this specific piece already. If you want instant updates or have a thing for Instagram, you can follow me here. This is the total video upload, all in one. That way, everyone can see the details of how it was made and created, step by step. I also go in and give an update on what inspired this piece and why I was so excited to create it.
There are 3 different mediums I used in this, and 1 “spot cleaner” that I needed to use to help with the jaguar’s fur. I decided to start using different mediums and blend them together to see what could come of it.
1st. I have used an alcohol-based maker; “Copic” markers are suggested here. There isn’t a better marker that I am aware of. I use this as a base color option. After I have sketched out the piece and have a good feel for where my lines are and what I am doing with them, I will then use makers to put a base color down.
2nd: Prisma color pencils are something I’ve recently used to add depth and detail in the foreground of the picture I am creating. These colored pencils have a great way of blending together to add a different texture and shadow for the Jaguar to really stand out.
3rd: Acrylic ink is used to outline the important lines in the image (the lines that really need to stand out). I also use white ink to help with the fur around the head of the cat and black ink for the spots. In the video, you can see the spots of the Jaguar really come together at the end of it.
Watch now to see the full process come together.
