I wanted to go ahead and do something fun and quick with this one. Often times inspiration hits while working on another painting, and to keep myself focused and having fun I’ll jump from painting to painting. The only trick is to complete everything you start. Often times I’ll loose interest in a piece, but will come back to it after some time. This is how Tabatha was formed, as a piece to help me clear my head and get the creative juices flowing. (So I could continue working on another piece)
The idea behind the Tabatha the Tiger is about leaving your mark on the universe. Often times I wonder about what I can do to give meaning to my life. I think about what others have done, back when our ancestors painted pictoglyphs on cave walls, or cliff sides to show they have once existed. I too feel like I am mimicking them as I painted this picture of a paw print floating in vast void of space. I do this because I want show that we all leave a mark on the universe.
(Please watch video for instructions on how it was made)
To explain the photo used in the video, I had the opportunity to go down to the Grand Staircase National Park in Escalante Utah. I took the photo of the Pictoglyph on a Hike I took to Lower Calf Creek Falls. This picture is used at the start of the video to help the viewer visualize why painting and art is so important to humanity. As it has been a form artistic expression since the beginning of our time.
